For women who are good candidates, success rates are slightly lower than those associated with IVF, but still quite high. In the days after an IUI procedure, you may be overwhelmed by anxiety feelings and anxious anticipation while waiting for your pregnancy test (sometimes called beta). This is what to expect in the days and weeks after an IU procedure. IUI: A general vision To understand what happens after IU, you must first understand what IU is and how it works. at a time when the woman is likely to be fertile. This shortens the journey that the sperm has to make to the egg. It also ensures that the sperm is in the body at the best possible time for conception. Combining these two factors greatly increases the chances of successful pregnancy. IU is a great choice for people with a wide variety of fertility problems, including: who cannot afford IVF, or who have objections to the IVF process. IU cannot treat all problems of infertility, especially implantation problems or recurrent abortions. Therefore, it is important to obtain a comprehensive training of a fertility specialist. Ask many questions about whether IUI is the right options for you. A skilled fertility specialist can help you determine if IUI is a good choice, and should be able to help you evaluate the chances of success. What to do after time IUIMeticulous is key to IUI success. The procedure occurs approximately in the middle of your cycle, when you ovulate. If you are having a medical cycle, you will use drugs to trigger ovulation. Otherwise, a supplier will test the ovulation and the time of the procedure accordingly. After IUI, you should feel good. The implant bleeding occurs later, usually 7-11 days after the procedure, when the egg implants on the wall of the uterus. In about three days, any initial signal will have stopped. If you are still bleeding, experiencing cramps or suffering pain, contact your doctor. Because it is impossible to be pregnant so early in the process, you will have no symptoms of pregnancy. Consider keeping a list of the symptoms you experience during the first days of dew. This gives you an idea of what is normal for your body, and can help you decide what it is and is not a sign of pregnancy on the way. This can be confusing and frustrating when you're trying to understand what you can expect. The simple truth is this: you are not pregnant until implantation occurs, and. The implantation marks the medical start of pregnancy. It is impossible to perform a positive pregnancy test before implantation occurs because implantation causes the body to start producing HCG, the pregnancy hormone that measures pregnancy tests. Because HCG production only begins in implantation, and because it is not pregnant until implantation occurs, it is impossible to experience pregnancy symptoms before implantation, when HCG levels begin to increase rapidly. And some people don't experience pregnancy symptoms until after they get a positive pregnancy test. So don't let an absence of symptoms deflate your hopes. Early Signs of Pregnancy The first signs of pregnancy are often subtle. For many women, they are similar to the signs that their period is coming. So it is useful to follow your symptoms over time so you can better understand the patterns of your body. A deviation from the rule is the greatest sign that you could be pregnant. The most common symptoms of pregnancy are: As HCG levels increase, these symptoms tend to be more intense. However, at that time you have already been able to get a positive pregnancy test. You will go to a traditional OB or midwife near the end of your first quarter. At this point, the chances of having an abortion are very low, and you can feel sure this is really happening! What if IUI doesn't work? Sometimes an initial test is positive, and then a few days later it is negative. This usually means you had an early abortion, not something you did wrong. It's not your fault, and most women who have abortions are going to have healthy and happy pregnancies next time. If you experience a miscarriage, ask your doctor about your options. In many cases, another IUI cycle is the best option. If the first IUI procedure fails, you will meet your provider to discuss your options forward. It is important to know that a single failed IUI procedure does not normally mean anything about your ability to become pregnant. Just as trying out the old fashion way fails more often than it happens, IUI often fails before it succeeds. So if everything went well and remains a good candidate for IUII, your provider might recommend testing another IUI cycle. If you chose not to use fertility medications for your first IUI cycle, your provider might recommend using them next time. Your doctor may also perform blood tests to ensure that other problems, such as low progesterone, do not interfere with IU success. The appropriate provider can evaluate your overall health, recommend appropriate medications for intrauterine insemination and prepare it for the process. New Patient Appointments: New Patient Appointments: If you are trying to conceive on your own or undergo fertility treatment the two-week wait may seem like an eternity. This is the time between suspicious ovulation – or in the case of those receiving fertility treatment, insemination or transfer time – and when you can take the first pregnancy test resulting in reliable results. Women, especially those who are in treatment, are hyperconscious of their bodies and are asked "Am I pregnant?", "What should I do about it," or "what does that mean?" on a daily basis, increasing the difficulty of waiting. To help navigate through curiosity and strangers, we picked up a question from our community, ran them through, seeing patients in our offices and, and came up with answers to their most urgent questions of two weeks of waiting. What's the two-week wait? A: It takes about two weeks from the time an embryo implants in the uterina wall starts to emit enough of the hCG hormone (human choraline agodotropine) to be detected by a blood test. This period of time is called the two-week wait. The blood test – officially called to – detects hCG and is the most accurate indication of pregnancy. We simply refer to the test as a "beta" because it actually measures a beta-chain portion of the hCG hormone molecule. Q: Should I take a pregnancy test at home after fertility treatment? A: We recommend that you refrain from performing a pregnancy test at home as you can give false results, either a false negative or false positive. A false positive result can be due to the fact that in many of our treatments, hCG, the same hormone that measures pregnancy, is given to ovulation "trigger" in many of our patients. The traces of the administered hCG may still be in your bloodstream and detectable by a test even if the implantation has not occurred. A false negative could occur as a low level of hCG can be undetectable in a urine test despite a pregnancy starting with these being less sensitive than the blood hormone analysis we manage. On average, two weeks after you or you will return to our Center for your pregnancy test. What is going on with my body during the two-week wait?A: During this time, you can feel like you're about to start your period. Your body has gone through a lot and the medications you have taken are designed to promote the optimal environment for pregnancy. You may experience some cramps, stains, or light bleeding, abdominal swelling, fatigue, and tenderness in the breast. Although it may be slightly alarmed to experience some of these symptoms, they are normal and do not mean that you are or are not pregnant. Please note, if after your treatment you feel excessive swelling, shortness of breath, chest pain or lower abdominal pain, you may have and should call your clinical team immediately.Q: Do I take medications during the two-week wait? A: Yes, progesterone and/or estrogren are often prescribed to take during your two weeks of waiting. Progesterone supplements are given so that women can produce the same levels of hormones that would occur in early stages of pregnancy. While most patients will complement their progesterone via vaginal insertion, patients who are using donor egg or frozen embryos will use the injector form of progesterone for their cycles. In addition, patients who suffer IVF, donor egg or transfers of frozen embryos may also be prescribed estrogen supplements to help thicken and maintain the uterine coating. Please do not stop taking these medications until medical staff have advised you to do so.Q: Can I continue my normal daily activities while waiting for two weeks? A: Let's tell all our patients who have had a embryo transfer to be cautious during their first five days after their treatment. We recommend that you refrain from extenuating physical activities, as well as sexual activities during that time, as they may cause uterine contractions that might harm the implementation process. There is also a greater risk during that time of ovarian problems that arise, since, for many patients, ovaries are still slightly expanded at that time. After those first days, you can start aerobic activities that are not shocking, such as walking and swimming.Q: Do I need to adjust my diet during the two weeks of waiting? A: No special diet is required during the two weeks of waiting, but we recommend you start making nutritional decisions as if you were already pregnant. This means eating well balanced meals, not sushi or other raw or uncooked meats, avoiding high quality fish, soft cheeses, without alcohol and continuing to take prenatal vitamins. Q: Can I travel for two weeks (or later, if you are pregnant)? A: Traveling for two weeks is acceptable as it does not affect the ability of an embryo to implant. However, we prefer that patients do not travel beyond the range of reasonable medical care in case of side effects that would lead to medical care.Q: What levels of hCG will determine if I am pregnant? A: A blood HCG number more than 100 is considered a good first beta. Higher numbers cannot predict multiple pregnancy, only ultrasound can determine it. Additional beta tests will be performed every 48 hours after the first positive test to confirm the level of hCG continues to increase. If the number continues to increase, we are more confident that it is likely to be a viable pregnancy. Then we will have to go through ultrasounds generally between six and seven weeks to determine if the embryo continues to develop in a fetus. About eight weeks, our Center will send you back to your OB/GYN to continue your prenatal care.Q: If I am pregnant, how "how far are we"?A: As soon as you are determined that you are pregnant, we use the same obstetric counting system or appointments as your OB/GYN. This is done to avoid using a set of dates from the time of an IUI or IVF in front of another set of dates used by the obstetricians. OB doctors determine that pregnancy dates from the last menstruation, at least 2 weeks before ovulation. So although you may have taken the first pregnancy test only two weeks after treatment, you would be considered four weeks pregnant. The first early pregnancy ultrasound is usually scheduled for you between six to seven weeks of gestational age, approximately four to five weeks of your IUI or embryo transfer. Q: What are my next steps if I am not pregnant? A: If you are not successful, your nurse will advise you to stop your medications. You will have the opportunity to talk to your doctor to review the past cycle and make a decision together about your next steps. Q: How long after a failed cycle can I do another cycle? A: While your doctor will determine the time for a new cycle, it is not always necessary to take free time between cycles unless otherwise indicated. Many of our patients can start their next treatment cycle immediately and for some rest cycle it is recommended or preferred. We know these two weeks can be a very stressful moment. However, all the symptoms I had were due to progesterone injection. The only thing I didn't have was the pained breasts. This time, probably 2 days after my transfer of frozen embryos I noticed my swollen breast, I feel sensitive and I feel heavy. I think it's a good sign, but I read this may be symptoms of progesterone again. So I was impatient and took a first pregnancy response test on the 10th after the fet.
